Happy Labor Day, {{ First Name | team }}.
One Monday a year, doing nothing is technically the assignment. The grill is going, the pool is still warm enough to lie about, and somebody at the barbecue is going to ask how your year is going.
Now, back to business. That question is this whole issue.
There are sixteen weeks left in 2026. September is not the wind-down. September is the pivot. Whatever you hit in December, you decide it right about now, while everyone else is coasting toward the holidays.
Quick housekeeping before we get into it: we've moved to every other Monday. Same three lenses, same theme of the month, a little more room to breathe. Next one lands laster in September. I also publish a weekly Podcast, have a listen and subscribe on your favorite platform.

ACCOUNTANT ANGLE
Do the gap math

Most agents avoid one specific number, and that avoidance is exactly what costs them the finish.
Pull your year-to-date profit and loss. Put your commission earned next to the goal you set in January. Subtract. That difference is the gap, and it is almost always smaller and more findable than the version living rent-free in your head.
Make it concrete. If the gap is eleven thousand dollars and your average commission is fifty-five hundred, you are not chasing a scary abstraction. You are chasing two closings in sixteen weeks. That is a Tuesday problem, not a crisis.
One catch: the math only works if the books are current. If you are still sitting on July and August receipts, you are doing arithmetic on a guess. Reconcile through August thirty-first this week so the number you're chasing is the real one.
You cannot close a gap you refuse to measure.
BUSINESS BOOSTER
Triage before you prospect

The instinct in September is to add. More calls, more listings, more activity. Try subtracting first.
Take every deal in your pipeline and sort it into three piles. Real, meaning it has a date and a motivated party. Stalled, meaning it is alive but waiting on one specific thing. Dead, meaning you already know and you have been too polite to admit it.
Then work the middle pile. For each stalled deal, name the one nudge that unsticks it: a document, a phone call, a price conversation you've been avoiding. Make those calls by Wednesday.
Now protect the habit. Block ten minutes every Friday between now and December thirty-first, put it on the calendar as a recurring appointment, and use it to ask two questions. What moved this week, and what is stuck. That is your finish-line review, and it costs you two hours between now and the end of the year.
COACHES CORNER
Momentum is a September decision

Here is the thing nobody tells you about the agents who finish strong. They are not more motivated in November. They are not gritting their teeth through December. They built the system in September and then just kept showing up to it.
Motivation is weather. It rolls in, it rolls out, and it will absolutely abandon you the week of Thanksgiving. A calendar block does not care how you feel.
So decide now, while the sun is still out and the pressure is still low. Pick the Friday slot. Pick the two numbers you'll track. Put both on the calendar before the pumpkin spice hits.
This month on the Podcast, we're talking with operators who run seasonal, referral-driven businesses about exactly this, how they protect the last stretch of the year instead of surviving it. New episode every Monday, wherever you listen.
BOOK OF THE MONTH
“The 12 Week Year” by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington
There is a reason this one shows up in September and not January. The whole premise is that a twelve month goal gives you eleven months of comfortable procrastination and one month of panic. Shrink the year down to twelve weeks and the deadline stops being theoretical.
Sound familiar? You have about sixteen weeks left. Close enough.
Three things to take from it:
Execution beats intention. The authors are blunt that most people do not have a knowledge problem, they have a doing problem. You already know what produces closings. The book is about the gap between knowing and doing, which is the only gap that ever really matters.
Score the week, not the year. They push a weekly execution score, the percentage of your planned actions you actually completed. Anything over eighty-five percent tends to produce the result. It pairs perfectly with the Friday review from the Business Booster.
Every week counts. No warm-up weeks, no throwaway weeks. In a twelve week year, one coasting week is eight percent of your entire plan.
If you read one business book this fall, make it this one, and read it in the next two weeks so it actually changes something.

TO-DO LIST
The September To-Do List
✅ Reconcile your books through August thirty-first so your numbers are real
✅ Pull the year-to-date profit and loss, write down the gap, and divide it by your average commission
✅ Sort every pipeline deal into real, stalled, or dead, then make one unsticking call on each stalled deal by Wednesday
✅ Confirm your third-quarter estimated tax payment goes out by September fifteenth (calendar reminder, not advice, so loop in your CPA if the amount is a question)
✅ Put a recurring ten-minute Friday finish-line review on your calendar, every week from now through December thirty-first, and use it to ask what moved and what's stuck.
If you only do one thing, do the second one. Your one move this week is thirty minutes with the profit and loss, writing down what you've earned and what you told yourself in January you'd earn. That difference is your finish line. The other four items are just how you run at it.
That's it for this week, {{ First Name | folks }}. If you look at that gap and want a second set of eyes on your numbers before you build the Q4 plan around them, the consult at Apex Accounting and Advisory is free and there is no pitch on the other end. Just an honest read.
I'll see you on the twenty-first.
Close the gap.
